Job Description

Contract Duration: 10 months
Start Date: 1 February 2026
Work Week: 5-day work week
Working Hours:

  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays: 8:00am - 2:30pm (inclusive of 30-minute lunch break)

  • Thursdays: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holidays, June school holidays, and December school holidays.

Job Responsibilities

Lab Support Services

  • Assist in the preparation and set-up of materials, apparatus, and equipment for daily experiments and performance tasks.

  • Ensure laboratory practicals and experiments run smoothly.

  • Assist teachers in troubleshooting laboratory-related issues where possible.

  • Conduct periodic checks on experiments while lessons are ongoing.

  • Carry out a safety review of assigned laboratories once every six months and recommend improvements to the HOD.

  • Work with Science Level Representatives to procure learning materials and resources during working hours.

Lab Maintenance

  • Monitor the schedule of teachers use of science laboratories.

  • Assist in the procurement of science equipment and instruments.

  • Maintain and upkeep laboratory equipment and apparatus.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records of laboratory equipment.

  • Support science teachers in lesson preparation when required.

  • Assist in maintaining the safety and upkeep of:

    • Science laboratories

    • Hydroponics areas

    • Discovery Haven

    • Pond

    • Outdoor learning spaces (Level 3)

    • Learning spaces and showcases

  • Assist in the care and maintenance of living organisms in the laboratory (e.g. insects, fish).

  • Collaborate with the Science Department to support planning of practical schedules and experiment requirements to enhance students learning experience.

  • Ensure cleanliness of equipment, laboratories, and learning spaces.

  • Propose and implement improvements to laboratory setups to enhance student learning.

Other Duties

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal, Vice-Principal, or HOD (Science).

  • Assist teachers in conducting Green Sparks Club (CCA) activities every Thursday and/or competition training.

  • Support the General Office with administrative work during school holidays, when required, or on days with no student lessons.

Requirements

  • GCE N or O Levels qualification

  • At least 1 year of experience in a laboratory or clinical environment

  • Experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications

  • Basic ICT knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team

  • Ability to maintain laboratory equipment and inventory records
