Science Lab Assist - Marine Crescent

Responsibilities:

1. Laboratory Maintenance: Assist in maintaining 4 science laboratories.

2. Apparatus Preparation: Prepare and lay out apparatus/materials for Primary 3 to Primary 6 Science classes.

3. Chemical Management: Ensure secure storage and safe handling of chemicals, maintain up-to-date chemical inventory and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

4. Resource Sourcing: Source online resources, multimedia, and activity ideas for teachers.

5. Equipment Maintenance: Liaise with external suppliers for regular maintenance of lab equipment.

6. Procurement: Assist in procurement of items required for laboratory work, including sourcing quotations and making recommendations.

7. Communication: Communicate effectively with teachers to prepare items/apparatus/equipment needed for science practical examinations, performance tasks, and workshops.

8. Troubleshooting: Assist teachers in troubleshooting equipment during lessons.

9. Inventory Management: Maintain and account for inventory and consumables in the science laboratories.

10. Stores Verification: Participate in termly and annual stores verification exercises with the Science department and Fixed Asset Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements:

1. Education: GCE O Level Certificate with 4 passes (including English) or equivalent.

2. Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

3. Knowledge: Knowledge in stores/resource management and procurement.

4. Preferred Skills: Knowledge and skills in handling science apparatus and equipment, laboratory safety procedures, and participation in school external safety validations.

Desirable Experience:

1. Laboratory Experience: Two years of experience in maintaining science laboratories.

2. MOE School Experience: Experience working in an MOE school environment.
