The School Counsellor is central to supporting the emotional, social, and academic development of our students from diverse cultural backgrounds. The ideal candidate will bring empathy, professionalism, and a proactive approach to student care.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counselling to support students personal, academic, and social development
- Implement and support school-wide preventative and developmental programs focused on student well-being
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to identify student needs and determine appropriate interventions
- Meet with parents to address student concerns and provide guidance on emotional, behavioural, and academic challenges
- Serve as a key member of the Child Protection Committee, supporting safeguarding procedures across the school
- Monitor student progress and well-being, and make referrals to external agencies when necessary
- Stay up to date through ongoing professional development, training, and engagement with counselling networks
Requirements
- A recognized degree in Counselling or a relevant professional qualification. Additional certification in educational administration or teaching is an advantage.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a counsellor, preferably in an educational or international school setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Able to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Proven ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues.
- A collaborative team player who works well across different departments and disciplines.
