Job Description

We are seeking a school counsellor for the upcoming academic year, with a start date in August 2026.

The School Counsellor is central to supporting the emotional, social, and academic development of our students from diverse cultural backgrounds. The ideal candidate will bring empathy, professionalism, and a proactive approach to student care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counselling to support students personal, academic, and social development
  • Implement and support school-wide preventative and developmental programs focused on student well-being
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to identify student needs and determine appropriate interventions
  • Meet with parents to address student concerns and provide guidance on emotional, behavioural, and academic challenges
  • Serve as a key member of the Child Protection Committee, supporting safeguarding procedures across the school
  • Monitor student progress and well-being, and make referrals to external agencies when necessary
  • Stay up to date through ongoing professional development, training, and engagement with counselling networks

Requirements

  • A recognized degree in Counselling or a relevant professional qualification. Additional certification in educational administration or teaching is an advantage.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a counsellor, preferably in an educational or international school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Able to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues.
  • A collaborative team player who works well across different departments and disciplines.
