School Counsellor

Job Description

• Conduct individual and group counselling for students.
• Liaise with staff, parents and external professionals/agencies regarding student cases.
• Refer students and families to community resources and external support when required.
• Provide crisis intervention and follow-up support for students affected by critical events.
• Maintain counselling case records and proper documentation.
• Update school management on students counselling progress.
• Network with external professionals and community agencies.
• Conduct mental health training and awareness sessions for staff and parents.
• Develop and conduct psycho-educational sessions on mental health and healthy coping strategies.
• Develop mental health resources and support student well-being and healthy family relationships

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Counselling with relevant professional qualifications.
• Relevant counselling and/or social work experience, preferably with adolescents or young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students and stakeholders.
• Good professional judgement, discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive matters.
• Strong assessment and case management skills, including risk assessment and intervention planning.
• Able to work collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, parents and external agencies.
• Organised, meticulous and a strong team player, with the ability to manage multiple cases effectively
