Job Scope - Scheduler (Fabrication / Precision Engineering)

Purpose of the Role:

To plan, coordinate, and monitor the production schedule for fabrication and precision engineering works, ensuring timely delivery of products while optimizing resources, manpower, and machine utilization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Scheduling & Planning

. Develop, update, and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.

. Translate project requirements, technical drawings, and material availability into realistic timelines.

. Sequence jobs to maximize efficiency and minimize machine downtime.

. Ensure production schedules align with customer delivery deadlines.

2. Resource & Material Coordination

. Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials, tools, and consumables.

. Allocate manpower and machine capacity according to workload and priority by collaboration with production supervisor.

. Identify potential bottlenecks in materials or manpower and proactively resolve them.

3. Job Order Management

. Update job orders with changes, delays, or revised requirements.

. Track job progress and completion in real-time.

4. Communication & Coordination

. Liaise with, production, quality control, and procurement departments to synchronize work activities.

. Act as the point of contact for project timelines between production and sales teams.

. Communicate schedule changes promptly to relevant stakeholders.

5. Monitoring & Reporting

. Track actual production output versus planned schedules.

. Report delays, causes, and corrective actions to sales department.

. Maintain accurate records of schedules, revisions, and production performance metrics.

6. Continuous Improvement

. Analyze past production data to improve future scheduling accuracy.

. Recommend workflow improvements to enhance productivity and reduce lead time.

. Participate in lean manufacturing or efficiency improvement projects.

Skills & Competencies Required

. Strong knowledge of fabrication and precision engineering processes (machining, welding, assembly, surface finishing, etc.).

. Proficiency in scheduling software (MS Project).

. Understanding of technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.

. Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.

. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
