SAS Architect

Responsibilities:

SAS Platform Administration

. Lead installation, configuration, and maintenance of SAS 9.4 environments across development, test, and production tiers.

. Manage user access, metadata, security configurations, and environment optimization.

. Oversee upgrades, migrations, patch cycles, and infrastructure enhancements.

. Ensure platform stability, performance, and high availability through proactive monitoring.

Environment Setup & Deployment

. Lead end to end setup of new SAS environments for new applications, markets, or business units.

. Configure authentication, user provisioning, and secure access methods.

. Develop user documentation, onboarding guides, and conduct training sessions.

System Integration & Connectivity

. Enable and validate SAS connectivity with databases, file transfer systems, and external platforms.

. Configure secure data exchange mechanisms such as file transfer channels and integration protocols.

. Troubleshoot connectivity and data movement issues across environments.

SAS Development & Automation

. Develop SAS programs, macros, and automation utilities to improve operational efficiency.

. Build and support ETL workflows, reporting processes, and data pipelines.

. Conduct performance tuning of SAS code and platform components.

. Troubleshoot complex data processing and batch job issues.

Upgrades, Migrations & Tech Refresh Support

. Manage OS, SAS version, and supporting tool upgrades.

. Perform parallel testing, issue resolution, and post migration stabilization.

Operational Support & Platform Governance

. Support daily operations including job monitoring, issue resolution, and user requests.

. Maintain compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements.

. Implement SSL renewals, certificate management, and platform vulnerability remediation.

. Create and maintain platform health dashboards, reports, and logs.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

. Build tools to automate user onboarding, configuration tasks, and administrative workflows.

. Improve monitoring capabilities through automated reporting and system utilization analysis.

. Implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Stakeholder Management

. Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams, application teams, and business stakeholders.

. Provide technical guidance on SAS related requirements and solution design.

. Act as a subject matter expert for SAS platform capabilities and integrations.

Requirements: Required Technical Skills

. Experience with SAS Administration and SAS programming.

. Strong expertise with SAS 9.4 components such as Metadata Server, Application Server, Web Server, and Compute Server.

. Proficiency in SAS Base, MACRO programming, SQL, and ETL development.

. Experience with Batch/Linux/UNIX systems and shell scripting.

. Understanding of authentication systems, file transfer technologies, and enterprise data platforms.

. Strong problem solving and performance tuning abilities.
