Role Overview

We are seeking a senior SAP SD (Sales & Distribution) Consultant with deep FI/CO integration knowledge to drive the functional architecture for an enterprise Order-to-Cash (OTC) Visibility Solution. This initiative establishes full operational traceability from initial sales contracts through delivery, billing, and financial settlement, enabling business users to trace incoming cash applications back to discrete sales line items.

This is a discovery-heavy and data-focused role. The consultant must reverse-engineer legacy and modern SAP ERP configurations (document flows, copy controls, account determination, and clearing logic) by inspecting system behavior, underlying database tables, and ABAP routines. You will bridge transactional SAP operations and modern enterprise data platforms, translating complex ERP configurations into data lineage models, KPI definitions, and technical requirements for BI and data engineering squads.

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End OTC Process Discovery & Reverse Engineering

• Map and document the entire OTC execution chain: Contract $rightarrow$ Sales Order $rightarrow$ Outbound Delivery $rightarrow$ Shipment $rightarrow$ Billing Document $rightarrow$ Accounting Document $rightarrow$ Payment / Clearing.
• Reverse-engineer legacy configurations by inspecting data tables, transaction patterns, and user exits across sales document types, item categories, schedule lines, and billing types.
• Inspect logistics execution (LE-TRA) components, including shipment documents (VT01N/VT02N), carrier/transporter assignments, shipment cost documents (VI01N), and financial settlement postings.
• Dissect revenue account determination structures (VKOA), account keys, and pricing procedures to establish links between SD commercial invoices and FI ledger entries.

2. Accounts Receivable (FI-AR) & Cash Clearing Logic

• Map open-item accounting structures, tracking downstream postings to Customer Line Items (BSID / BSAD in ECC or ACDOCA in S/4HANA).
• Formulate data rules to link payments to invoices under non-standard clearing conditions:
• Full, partial, and residual clearings
• Unapplied cash and on-account postings
• Over-payments, under-payments, payment tolerance thresholds, and disputed deductions.
• Reverse-engineer electronic bank statements (EBS), lockbox processing, and payment advice structures to automate invoice-matching analytics.

3. Data Product Enablement & Technical Translation

• Translate SAP operational data models into analytical models (defining table joins, primary/foreign keys, document flow hierarchies via VBFA, and logical data dictionaries).
• Formulate business calculation logic for core OTC KPIs (e.g., Days Sales Outstanding, Order-to-Cash Cycle Time, On-Time In-Full delivery rate, Cash Application Rate, Unapplied Cash Aging).
• Review custom ABAP routines, user exits, BAdIs, and enhancement points to verify custom pricing or posting logic impacting reporting pipelines.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analytics architects, and business stakeholders to design ingestion models for analytics platforms (e.g., SAP BW/4HANA, Azure Data Lake, Snowflake, or Databricks).

Required Experience & Qualifications

1. Core SAP SD Expertise (8+ Years)

• Minimum 8+ years of dedicated hands-on SAP SD experience across at least 2–3 full lifecycle implementations or lead-level support/enhancement projects.
• Deep mastery of the standard OTC cycle: Quotations, Outline Agreements/Contracts, Sales Orders, Outbound Deliveries, Picking/Packing, and Invoicing.
• Comprehensive technical configuration knowledge of Copy Control, Item Category Determination, Document Flow (VBFA), and Pricing Procedures (Condition Technique).
• Solid experience in Logistics Execution / Transportation (LE-TRA), including shipment planning, tracking, freight cost calculation, and service agent integration.

2. FI/CO Integration & Cash Flow Mechanics

• Strong functional command of the SD-FI interface: posting keys, revenue recognition, tax codes, and billing document account determination.
• Proven understanding of Accounts Receivable (FI-AR): open vs. cleared item management, credit limits, dispute management, and dunning workflows.
• Functional fluency in incoming cash mechanisms: manual/automatic clearing rules, payment advice notes, tolerance groups, and bank ledger reconciliations.

3. SAP Data & Analytics Competencies

• Deep knowledge of the underlying SAP ERP table architecture:
• SD: VBAK, VBAP, LIKP, LIPS, VBRK, VBRP, VBFA, VTTK, VTTP, KONV/PRCD_ELEMENTS
• FI-AR: BKPF, BSEG, BSID, BSAD, KNA1, KNB1, and S/4HANA ACDOCA
• Hands-on ability to trace data relationships directly via transaction codes (SE16N, SE11, SQVI) to construct data lineage for data engineering teams.
• Basic ABAP reading proficiency to debug routines, decode formulas, and understand custom derivation logic.
• Familiarity with enterprise reporting layers, such as SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Core Data Services (CDS) views, or external cloud data warehouses.

4. Operational & Delivery Capabilities

• Proven ability to operate autonomously in exploratory, discovery-phase environments without predefined specifications.
• Strong written and visual documentation skills: process architecture diagrams, functional specifications (FSDs), and data mapping sheets.
• High comfort level collaborating across cross-functional matrix teams consisting of Finance Managers, Sales Operations Leads, Solution Architects, and Cloud Data Engineers.
