Job Description: SAP SD Lead Consultant (Strong FI/CO Integration)

Role: SAP SD Lead Consultant

1. Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced SAP SD Lead Consultant with strong FI/CO integration knowledge to support the development of an end-to-end Order-to-Cash (OTC) visibility solution.

The consultant will analyse existing SAP SD and FI processes, trace transactions across logistics, billing, accounting, and payment clearing, and translate business requirements into functional specifications and reporting requirements.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and document the end-to-end OTC process: Contract → Sales Order → Delivery → Shipment → Billing → Accounting Document → Payment/Clearing.
• Analyse existing SAP SD configurations, document types, item categories, copy controls, pricing procedures, and billing processes.
• Map document flow and relationships across SAP SD, FI, MM, and logistics.
• Analyse shipment and transportation processes, including shipment documents, transporter assignments, shipment costs, and settlement.
• Analyse SD-FI integration, including accounting document creation, G/L determination, account keys, and reconciliation.
• Analyse FI-AR processes, including customer open items, cleared items, incoming payments, payment advice, and clearing.
• Define logic to link incoming payments to invoices and identify overpayments, underpayments, partial payments, residual payments, unapplied cash, and long-open invoices.
• Investigate existing SAP process configurations and custom logic to understand current business rules and transaction behaviour.
• Analyse SAP tables, data structures, document relationships, and join keys to support data extraction and reporting.
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications, data requirements, reporting logic, KPIs, and business rules.
• Define data lineage and document end-to-end data flows across SAP transactional and reporting systems.
• Work with business stakeholders, SAP functional teams, architects, and data engineers to deliver reporting and analytics solutions.
• Review ABAP logic and technical designs to understand custom developments and data derivations.
• Support SAP data product development and business intelligence initiatives.

3. Mandatory Skills and Experience

A. SAP SD – Core Skills

• Minimum 8+ years of hands-on SAP SD experience.
• At least 2–3 full-cycle SAP implementations or equivalent lead-level support and enhancement experience.
• Strong knowledge of the end-to-end OTC process, including contracts, sales orders, deliveries, and billing.
• Hands-on experience with:
• Sales document types and item categories.
• Schedule line categories and copy control.
• Pricing procedures and output determination.
• Billing types, invoice lists, credit/debit memos, and cancellations.
• Revenue account determination (VKOA).
• Experience with SAP shipment and transportation processes, particularly LE-TRA.
• Knowledge of shipment documents, transporter assignment, shipment cost documents, and settlement.
• Experience integrating SAP SD with MM and Finance.

B. SAP FI/CO Integration

• Strong working knowledge of SD-FI integration.
• Understanding of accounting document creation from billing documents.
• Knowledge of account keys, G/L account determination, and SD-FI reconciliation.
• Working knowledge of FI-AR, customer line items, open and cleared items, and payment terms.
• Experience with incoming payments, payment advice, and manual and automatic clearing.
• Understanding of partial payments, residual payments, tolerance groups, and on-account postings.
• Ability to trace accounting documents and payments back to their originating SD transactions.
• Understanding of financial transaction flows and their impact on reporting.

C. SAP Data and Reporting Skills

• Experience analysing SAP tables, data structures, relationships, and join keys.
• Strong understanding of SAP document flow and end-to-end data lineage.
• Experience defining OTC KPIs, business rules, and reporting requirements.
• Ability to prepare functional specifications, process maps, and data dictionaries.
• Experience supporting SAP reporting, analytics, BI solutions, or data product initiatives.
• Good understanding of SAP BW/BW/4HANA reporting environments.
• Working knowledge of ABAP to interpret custom logic, enhancements, and data derivations.
• Ability to translate business processes into data requirements for reporting and data engineering teams.
