We are seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Lead Consultant to head the technical development stream for a brownfield S/4HANA implementation project in the retail industry. The role involves leading the development team, ensuring adherence to S/4HANA best practices, and driving the modernization of custom objects and integrations for optimized system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the SAP ABAP development team, overseeing design, build, testing, and deployment of all custom developments.
- Define and enforce ABAP development standards, code governance, and quality control aligned with SAP's clean core principles.
- Coordinate technical deliverables across all functional areas (FICO, MM, SD, PP/QM).
- Drive the remediation and adaptation of legacy custom code for S/4HANA compliance during the brownfield migration.
- Design and develop complex ABAP objects, including CDS Views, AMDPs, OData services, BAPIs, IDocs, and Enhancement Frameworks (BADI/User Exits).
- Collaborate with the CPI Architect and Integration Team to build and optimize interfaces between S/4HANA and external systems.
- Support data migration activities, validation logic, and reconciliation reports.
- Conduct code reviews, performance optimization, and debugging for critical business processes.
- Ensure end-to-end alignment between functional requirements and technical solutions.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, adhering to project governance standards.
- Lead defect resolution and support cutover, go-live, and hypercare activities.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years of SAP ABAP experience, with at least 2 S/4HANA implementation or conversion projects (including one brownfield).
- Deep hands-on expertise in ABAP on HANA, including CDS Views, AMDP, Core Data Services, and Fiori-based extensions.
- Strong proficiency in Object-Oriented ABAP, Enhancement Framework, SmartForms/Adobe Forms, and Data Migration tools (LSMW, BODS, or equivalents).
- Proven leadership in managing onsite/offshore development teams and coordinating across multiple workstreams.
- Experience integrating with SAP CPI, BTP, and other middleware solutions.
- Excellent understanding of S/4HANA simplifications and clean core extensibility approaches.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in the retail or consumer goods industry preferred.
- Regional project exposure within Singapore or ASEAN is an advantage.
