Incumbent serves as the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer (POSHO) assistant (Mid-level).
Main Responsibilities:
- Assists the POSHO and/or senior POSHO Assistant with daily functions of the Office of Safety Health and Environmental Management (SHEM) and Office of Fire Protection (FIRE) programs at post.
- Ensures all U.S. Government-owned and leased properties in country meet Departmental and other relevant safety requirements.
- Assists in conducting safety surveys and preparing related reports.
- Conducts follow-up inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provides safety training in accordance with SHEM requirements.
- Performs related administrative duties.
Requirements:

- Minimum two years post-Secondary studies at the College/University level or a two-year Vocational training in facilities management, environmental safety, construction, engineering, or architecture.
- At least 3 years of experience in the maintenance or construction field performing repair work as a maintenance supervisor or team lead or in the field of occupational safety as a safety inspector or quality control assurance inspector required.
- Fluent (speaking/reading/writing) in English is required.
- Good understanding of local occupational safety and health regulations.
- Knowledge of local construction policies and local labor laws.
- In depth knowledge of occupational safety and health standards, safety regulations, industry best practices, methods of assessing safety hazards and controls.
- Knowledge of investigative techniques for conducting investigations for all types of mishaps.
- Good knowledge of local building codes.
- Proficiency in maintaining safety and health records, including incident reports, inspection records, and training documentation. Strong communication skills to effectively convey safety information, policies, and procedures to employees and management.
- Knowledge of Auto CAD and/or Revit. MS Project.
- A valid Class 3 driver's license for at least five years is required.
