Job Description
Position: Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO)
Job Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain the company's Workplace Safety and Health policies and procedures.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and potential hazards.
Ensure all site activities comply with the Workplace Safety and Health Act, relevant regulations and project requirements.
Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings and safety induction programmes for workers.
Prepare and review Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures and Method Statements.
Monitor bored piling operations, lifting activities, heavy machinery operations and other high-risk construction works.
Ensure workers use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Investigate workplace accidents, incidents and near misses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Prepare accident reports, safety inspection reports and other required WSH documentation.
Maintain safety records, permits, certificates, training records and inspection checklists.
Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors and workers on all safety-related matters.
Liaise with MOM, main contractors, clients and other relevant authorities when required.
Conduct emergency drills and ensure emergency response procedures are properly implemented.
Monitor the validity of workers safety training certificates and arrange training or renewals when necessary.
Attend project safety meetings and follow up on all safety observations and corrective actions.
Stop any unsafe work activity that may cause injury, damage or danger.
Promote a strong safety culture and encourage workers to report hazards and unsafe practices.
Perform any other safety-related duties assigned by management.
Requirements:
Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer with MOM.
Relevant WSH qualification recognised by MOM.
Experience in the construction or foundation/bored piling industry is preferred.
Good knowledge of Singapore WSH legislation and construction safety requirements.
Able to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, subcontractors and clients.
Responsible, observant and willing to work at different project sites.
