The Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the implementation and monitoring of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices on civil construction projects. The role supports safety supervision, site inspections, risk assessments, and training, ensuring that all site activities are conducted safely and in compliance with regulations and project safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Site Safety Monitoring
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety procedures and project HSE requirements
- Monitor safe work practices for high-risk civil operations such as scaffolding, lifting, excavation, working at heights, and confined space work
- Ensure correct use of PPE and safety equipment by all site personnel
- Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and report them to the Safety Manager or Deputy Safety Manager or Construction Manager.
Risk Assessment & Incident Support
- Assist in preparing and reviewing and risk assessments
- Support investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses, documenting findings and tracking corrective actions
- Assist in emergency preparedness activities and drills
- Maintain hazard logs and participate in safety audits
Training& Awareness
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and HSE awareness sessions for site workers and subcontractors
- Promote safety culture on site by encouraging proactive hazard reporting and adherence to safety standards
Documentation& Reporting
- Maintain daily safety inspection logs, incident reports, and training records
- Track site safety KPIs and provide updates to the Safety Manager or Deputy Safety Manager
- Assist in preparing periodic safety reports for management and clients
Coordination& Compliance
- Coordinate safety activities with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with local safety regulations (e.g., WSH, MOM in Singapore), client HSE requirements, and company policies
- Support the Safety Manager in site safety meetings, inspections, and audits
