Job title: Safety Officer
Job scope:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with all relevant workplace and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of terminal areas, equipment, and work practices to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
- Support the development and implementation of safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Conduct safety orientations for new hires to promote a strong safety-first culture from the start.
- Participate in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments for various port operations and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety performance.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in workplace safety.
- Professional safety certification (e.g., WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant health and safety laws and regulations.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented professional with a strong sense of responsibility and a positive can-do attitude.
