Job Description
Risk Advisor - Global Commodities Platform
Overview
Our client is an established international commodities group with a diversified presence across physical trading and risk management solutions. Leveraging its extensive market capabilities and global network, the business works with a broad range of counterparties to manage commodity price exposure and navigate increasingly complex and volatile markets.
As part of the continued development of its trading and risk management activities, the organization is seeking an experienced Risk Advisor to strengthen its risk capabilities. This is an individual contributor role offering significant interaction with commercial, trading and risk stakeholders across multiple geographies.
Role
Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for the assessment, monitoring and management of market and counterparty credit risks arising from commodity trading and structured transactions.
You will take ownership of counterparty risk assessments, credit limit recommendations, exposure monitoring, margin-related risk and ongoing risk reporting. A key aspect of the position will be understanding how changes in underlying commodity markets and mark-to-market positions translate into evolving counterparty exposures throughout the lifecycle of a transaction.
Working closely with trading, commercial, finance, operations and risk stakeholders, you will undertake portfolio stress testing and scenario analysis, monitor risk concentrations and support the continued enhancement of risk controls and governance. You will also engage with counterparties on credit and risk-related matters where required.
This is a highly business-integrated risk position, requiring the successful candidate to combine strong technical risk capabilities with sound commercial judgement and an understanding of physical and financial commodity markets.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be a degree holder in Finance, Economics, Risk Management or a related discipline, with at least 10 years of relevant experience in commodity trading risk, preferably with a strong grounding in market risk. Professional qualifications such as FRM or CFA will be viewed favourably.
