Job Summary

As a Restaurant Captain, you will lead and supervise the front-of-house team to ensure smooth, efficient operations and deliver exceptional dining experiences. You will drive service excellence, coordinate with kitchen staff, and uphold food safety standards to enhance guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the front-of-house team to consistently deliver excellent customer service and achieve high guest satisfaction
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate daily specials, promotions, and service expectations, ensuring team alignment and preparedness
  • Provide training and ongoing guidance to new and existing staff to maintain service quality and operational standards
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that supports team engagement and performance
  • Personally attend to special guest needs and requests to enhance the overall dining experience
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally to maintain guest loyalty and uphold the restaurant's reputation
  • Monitor and maintain a welcoming and comfortable dining atmosphere that encourages repeat patronage
  • Oversee the order-taking process to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of orders
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to synchronize food preparation and service, optimizing operational flow
  • Manage table turnover efficiently to maximize seating capacity and revenue
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards to comply with regulations and protect guest health
  • Monitor cleanliness and organization of the dining area to uphold a high standard of presentation
  • Maintain clear and open communication with kitchen staff, servers, and other team members to support seamless operations
  • Relay important information regarding menu changes, specials, and operational updates to the team

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Certification in food handling and safety is a plus
  • Proven experience as a Restaurant Captain or similar role in the hospitality industry
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage stressful situations
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
