Job Summary
You will lead guest service by taking and delivering food and beverage orders, recommending wine pairings, and ensuring timely, professional service to enhance the dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Take initial beverage and food orders and deliver cocktails, beer, and other beverages to guests at the table
- Recommend wine pairings for specific food items and decant and serve wine in the absence of a sommelier or wine steward
- Demonstrate complete knowledge of the menu and special items to assist guests in making meal choices
- Greet and welcome guests promptly with warmth and friendliness
- Thank guests and give a fond farewell, encouraging their return
- Assist guests with table reservations and seating arrangements
- Ensure guests receive service within specified timeframes
- Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and staff, including answering phone calls using proper telephone etiquette
- Answer guest questions about the menu and assist with menu selections
- Anticipate unexpected guest needs and respond promptly and tactfully
- Apply correct service techniques consistently and serve food and beverages enthusiastically
- Serve food courses and beverages to guests according to service standards
- Set tables appropriately for the type of event and service required
- Record transactions and orders accurately in Point of Sale (POS) systems at the time of order
- Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, wait times, and product availability
- Relay additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen
- Check with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and beverage served
- Clear, collect, and return food and beverage items to designated areas promptly
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glassware, and utensils throughout the shift
- Review order dockets to ensure accurate and timely preparation of orders
