Residential Technician

Black Box Network Services, the global leader in communication system integration, is looking for Residential Technician with basic Networking knowledge.

Some proven track record in:

. Good Understanding and knowledge about IP address

. Good Understanding and knowledge Mac address

. Good Understanding and knowledge Vlan, LAN & WAN

. Physical layer troubleshooting

. Good knowledge with Ping, trace commands

. Hardware break fix support

. Good Understanding on Routing protocols

. Knowledgeable on type of Patch Cords (SMF/MMF/Copper cable)

. OSI /TCP/IP Model

. ARP

. Knowledgeable on switches and ports (Console Port, Management Port, ilo, IDrac)

. Racking and stacking of network devices

. Perform Cable patching (end to end connectivity)

. Installing and troubleshooting enterprise equipment

This position will support facilities management with a commitment and desire to satisfy our client by completing all work at the highest level, always striving for perfection. The candidate must be motivated and self-driven for success.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities

. The patching cabling between network equipment and client's network

. The installation of power cables from equipment to power supply in rack/cabinet/closet

. The installation, troubleshooting and de-installing IT equipment (Servers / Network / Storage / etc)

. Install/swap out devices (e.g., phone, computers, cables, boards, edge routers, switches and etc.)

. Complete all hard and complex Move, Add Change (MAC) requests within the defined service levels

. Act as interface between client's associates and management

. Provide hardware break-fix services for network infrastructure

. Perform onsite call-through, data, voice, website and security testing

. Perform back-up testing to ensure all systems are connected to the client's network as directed

. Support carrier testing of circuits

. Assist with facilities efforts such as vendor co-ordination and vendor supervision

. Power and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) restoral

. Emergency cooling restoration,

. Fire suppression exercises, restoration, and post fire events

. Support inventory management activities

. Receiving inventory

. Tagging of assets

. Tracking spares (crash kits)

. Ordering inventory

. Updating inventory records

. Prepare and return damaged equipment

. Act as an interface, as needed, between associates at the applicable location and centralized project / operations.
