Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily operations and overall management of the wards, ensuring optimal patient care. Demonstrate strong diagnostic abilities and clinical management skills. Provide supervision and mentorship to House Officers, Medical Officers, and Trainees. Attend to cold referrals not mentioned by any specific consultant. Handle urgent referrals during night shifts. Communicate with the on-call Consultant regarding complex or challenging cases admitted to the ward. Conduct ward rounds during night shifts and outside of regular hours when on call. In emergencies, oversee the drafting of consultation referral letters and approve them as needed. Compile and submit Confidential Mortality Reports to the Chairman Medical Board through the Head of Department. Represent the ward at Coroner's inquests or medico-legal hearings when necessary. Actively participate in departmental ward rounds and hospital teaching seminars. In surgical disciplines, perform elective and emergency operations within the parameters set by senior staff. Teach Medical Officers basic operative procedures and provide guidance when needed. Show a commitment to continuous learning and specialization in your field. Undertake additional duties as directed by the Head of Department or Chairman Medical Board. May assume responsibilities of the next lower grade if required.
Requirements
- Recognized postgraduate qualification and completion of basic specialist training. Registration with the Singapore Medical Council is mandatory, along with completion of one year of housemanship and three years of medical officer postings.
