Job Description

Currie & Brown Singapore is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer (Mechanical) to join our on-site supervision team for an 8-month contract. The successful candidate will represent Currie & Brown in ensuring that all mechanical works are executed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. You will play a key role in overseeing HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems to support the delivery of our client's construction and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Supervision & Monitoring

  • Supervise and monitor all on-site mechanical works, including HVAC systems, chilled water systems, ducting, plumbing and sanitary installations, fire protection systems, and mechanical equipment installation.
  • Ensure contractors work complies with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and Singapore standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify any defects, safety issues, or non-conformities.

2. Technical Support & Coordination

  • Review mechanical shop drawings, material submissions, and method statements for compliance.
  • Provide technical clarification and guidance to contractors for mechanical installation issues.
  • Coordinate with the electrical, civil, architectural, and QS teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.

3. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure all mechanical materials, workmanship, and installations meet Currie & Brown's quality expectations and client requirements.
  • Work closely with contractors to maintain compliance with BCA, PUB, SCDF, NEA, and other relevant Singapore regulations.
  • Monitor adherence to site safety standards and risk management procedures.

4. Testing & Commissioning

  • Witness testing and commissioning of mechanical systems, including pressure testing, HVAC balancing, equipment performance testing, fire protection system checks, and overall MEP system integration.
  • Review test reports and ensure rectification of defects.
  • Confirm mechanical systems are performing as designed before handover.

5. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare daily and weekly site progress reports for internal and client review.
  • Maintain records of inspections, variation works, defects, and contractor activities.
  • Assist the project manager with progress monitoring and identifying potential risks or delays.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical supervision experience in Singapore.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection, and mechanical building systems.
  • Familiar with Singapore Codes of Practice, BCA requirements, and relevant authority submissions.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to resolve technical issues on-site.

  • Ability to represent Currie & Brown professionally and work independently in a fast-paced project environment.
