Job Description
Job Title: Research Fellow (Theory and Computational methods of Condensed Matter Physics)
University-Level Unit: Science
Faculty/Department-Level Unit: Chemistry
Employee Category: Research Staff
Location_ONB: Kent Ridge Campus
Posting Start Date: 15/10/2026
Job Description
The team of Prof Loh Kian Ping invites applications for a Research Fellow position, working in the area of theory and computational methods of condensed matter physics.
The candidate should have experience working in theoretical condensed matter physics, with a focus on moire quantum materials, particularly twisted bilayer graphene and related van der Waals heterostructures. The job responsibilities include developing methods to study how twist angle, strain, pressure, electric field, and magnetic field modify flat band formation, electronic localization, Landau levels, Hofstadter spectra, and quantum Hall response. The candidate must be adept at using real space tight binding, continuum model approaches, and numerical simulations to understand geometry driven electronic and magnetic phenomena in two dimensional moire systems.
