Job Description

Cardiovascular disease remains the top killer and accounts for one third of death worldwide. We are looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow candidate aiming at identifying new therapeutic targets and developing engineered extracellular vesicle or lipid nanoparticle-based RNA delivery system for treatments of cardiovascular diseases in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at National University of Singapore. The candidate is expected to work independently in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment. The candidate will perform a variety of molecular cell biology assays, drug formulations and in vivo experiments in mice, ranging from daily care to surgical procedures and the interpretation of the results. Apart from own projects, the candidate may supervise junior staff and students, and provide support to the research group, as delegated by the PI. The appointment is on a 1-year contract base in the first instance with a possibility of extension. The candidate will be responsible to, and work closely with, the PI and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the experiments in time.

The candidate will organize and coordinate the experiments, analyze the data, write up experiment reports and manuscripts for publication in time.

The candidate will be able to:

  1. Oversee the general management of the project
  2. Work independently: conduct literature search, design and perform experiments, analyze data, prepare both progress and final reports of the project, and write up manuscripts
  3. Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record-keeping in accordance with policies and procedures
  4. Provide daily supervision to junior staff or students when necessary
  5. Provide support to the research group, including grant applications, as delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

  1. A PhD degree in pharmacology or biomedical research prior postdoctoral work experience is preferable.
  2. An excellent publication record in drug delivery or nanomedicine.
  3. A strong expertise in engineered extracellular vesicle design or lipid nanoparticle synthesis, with extensive experience in animal studies.
  4. Ability to work independently and in a team, an investigative nature and attention to details.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. The candidate is eligible for NUS staff welfare including medical insurance.
