Job Description

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking a Research Fellow to join Dr. Jihong Min's research group focused on the additive manufacturing of soft bioelectronic interfaces for wearable and implantable health monitoring systems.

The Research Fellow will lead research on the development of polymer-based soft materials and bioelectronic interface platforms. Responsibilities include:

. Design and fabrication of soft bioelectronic interfaces using polymer and biopolymer materials, including hydrogels, cellulose-based composites, and functional nanostructured films.
. Additive manufacturing (3D printing) of flexible and stretchable sensor substrates and electrode platforms.
. Self-assembly of functional nanomaterials for biosensor surface engineering and signal transduction.
. Surface and interface engineering for biocompatible electrode coatings and antifouling layers
. Mechanical characterization of soft materials, including rheology, viscoelasticity, and mechano-responsive behavior.
. Development of polymer composite systems for wearable electrochemical sensing applications
. Supervision and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students.
. Manuscript preparation, grant writing support, and presentation of research findings at conferences.

Qualifications

. Possess a PhD (or equivalent) in Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
. Strong publication record in polymer and materials science, with publications in high-impact journals (e.g., Nature Materials, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials).
. Demonstrated experience in polymer synthesis, self-assembly, and surface/interface characterization.
. Proficiency in mechanical testing and characterization techniques (rheology, DMA, tensile testing, viscoelastic measurements).
. Experience with nanomaterial fabrication and characterization (SEM, TEM, XPS, FTIR, contact angle measurements).
. Experience with additive manufacturing or 3D printing of polymer-based materials is highly desirable.
. Familiarity with electrochemical methods or biosensor fabrication is a plus.
. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience (e.g., lab leadership, student supervision)
. Strong written and spoken communication skills.
. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
. Open to fixed-term contract.
