Job Description

SUTD is the world's first Design AI university. With Design AI, artificial intelligence is treated as a partner and a member of the team - not just a tool. As a result of this unique SUTD treatment, AI and humans brainstorm, spar and prototype together, resulting in solutions that are elevated several-fold. This human-AI team concept has been made possible because of SUTD's unique cohort-based interdisciplinary pedagogy. As a trailblazer in the field of design and technology education and research, SUTD has been pioneering innovative programmes and initiatives since its formation 16 years ago. As part its new mid-term growth strategy called SUTD Leap, it will work closely with industry to co-create solutions in both education and research - for a better world.

The research areas at SUTD's Science, Mathematics, and Technology (SMT) cluster are dedicated to addressing complex challenges in the world of science and technology. Engage in cutting-edge work that contributes to groundbreaking innovations in various industries. Explore our areas of research and join a community committed to technological excellence and forward-thinking solutions.

Job Requirements

We are seeking talented postdoctoral fellows at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) with expertise in the following areas

  • quantum error correction
  • quantum noise characterization
  • quantum control

Candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following topics:

Quantum error correction: Experience in QEC theory, design, simulation, and analysis of quantum error-correcting, and efficient decoding methods.

Quantum noise characterization: Experience with quantum characterization, verification, and validation (QCVV) techniques, including gate set tomography, randomized benchmarking, and related protocols. Experience in correlated and non-Markovian noise, multi-time quantum processes, and process tensor methods.

Quantum control: Experience with optimal control in the presence of complex noise environments and quantum error-mitigation protocols would be useful.

Hands-on experience with quantum hardware, implementing noise characterization, control, or error-correction protocols on experimental quantum platforms is highly desirable.

The candidate should have

  • A PhD in open quantum systems, quantum information theory, or similar
  • Able to do literature review and summarize the main findings from the literature
  • Competence in disseminating the outcomes of the research including in peer-reviewed academic publications of international standing
  • Perform other tasks as required by the Principal Investigator
  • Ability to support the research team

The hired candidate will primarily work with Prof. Kavan Modi from SUTD. Please submit your updated resume and one or two writing samples demonstrating your capabilities to Prof Kavan Modi (). We look forward to reviewing your application soon!
