The Singapore General Hospital Research and Innovation Office is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team of PIs in developing novel RNA therapeutics and vaccines. Our goal is to apply lessons we have learnt from RNA-protein interactions between RNA viruses and their hosts to develop new approaches to developing RNA medicines.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic academic environment at the forefront of RNA research, with access to state-of-the-art technologies and collaborative resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Design mRNA constructs for potential therapeutic and vaccine applications.
Perform experiments to investigate RNA regulatory mechanisms, including cell compartmentalisation, interaction with ribosomal proteins and ribonucleases.
Examine transgene expression in vitro and in vivo.
Collaborate with lab members and external collaborators on interdisciplinary projects
Prepare manuscripts for publication and present findings at national/international conferences
Contribute to grant writing, mentoring of junior trainees, and lab development
Qualifications required:
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field
Demonstrated expertise in RNA biology through peer-reviewed publications is a must
Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., RNA/protein extraction, RT-qPCR, Western blotting, cloning, RNA interference/CRISPR)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred:
Experience with high-throughput sequencing, bioinformatics, or structural biology
Training in RNA virology is desirable but not required
Background in RNA-protein interactions
Familiarity with model organisms and cell-based systems
