The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out inter-disciplinary research in key areas such as Computational Materials Science, Characterisation Materials Science, Defence Composite Materials, Functional Composite Materials, Energy, Nanomaterials, Low Dimensional Materials, Biomaterials Materials, Biological Materials, Bioinspired Materials and Sustainable Materials.
We are looking for a Research Fellow to undertake the responsibilities towards the development of new adhesives and conductive polymers.
Key Responsibilities:
RF (polymer chemist) will be hired to manage the development of novel adhesives formulations and work with laboratory personnel towards the objectives listed within the relevant grant funding.
Synthesis and characterization of functional polymer composites using novel electro-initiator chemistry.
Project management with ability to generate technical reports, journal papers, and liase with industrial collaborators.
Maintenance of lab or equipment or supplies that include procurement and liaison with suppliers.
Assist or produce high quality reports and documents that consolidate research findings
Job Requirements:
PhD in Materials-, Organic- or Polymer Chemistry from an internationally accredited institution.
Minimum one year of industrial or academic research experience in polymer research, materials science, or adhesives.
Skills relating to electro-chemistry, free radical polymerization, and adhesive testing.
Familiar with polymer characterization techniques such as GPC, SEC, NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong initiatives.
Evidence of project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong record of scientific publications in high impact academic journals.
