Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Research Fellow to join a dynamic research lab focusing on cardiovascular genomics, epigenomics, and molecular mechanisms of heart disease. The successful candidate will leverage cutting-edge genomics (including single-cell multi-omics, scRNA-seq, and spatial transcriptomics) and cellular models (such as human iPSCs) to uncover disease mechanisms, therapeutic targets, and regulatory pathways in cardiovascular biology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Research Projects: Design and execute high-impact experimental studies investigating the genetic, transcriptional, and epigenetic drivers of cardiovascular diseases.
  • Genomics & Molecular Biology: Perform advanced laboratory techniques, including molecular cloning, next-generation sequencing library preparation, gene editing (CRISPR), and functional assays.
  • Bioinformatics & Data Analysis: Analyze complex high-throughput genomics datasets (e.g., scRNA-seq, bulk RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, spatial transcriptomics) using robust computational pipelines.
  • Cellular Models: Work with human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)-derived cardiac models or primary tissue models to validate genomic findings functionally.
  • Publication & Dissemination: Lead the drafting of manuscripts for peer-reviewed high-impact journals, present research findings at international scientific conferences, and contribute to progress reports.
  • Mentorship & Lab Support: Provide guidance, technical training, and mentorship to junior lab members (Research Assistants, postgraduate, and undergraduate students), while maintaining collaborative laboratory operations.

Qualifications

  • Education: PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Cardiovascular Science, or a related biomedical discipline.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Strong background in molecular biology and functional genomics.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with genomics assays (NGS workflows, single-cell genomics, epigenomics).
  • Familiarity with human stem cell models or cardiovascular disease biology is a strong advantage.
  • Computational Skills: Proficiency in bioinformatics programming languages (such as R or Python) for large-scale genomic data analysis.
  • Track Record: A strong publication record in peer-reviewed international journals demonstrating scientific productivity and independence.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative team player mindset suited for a fast-paced translational research environment.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of statistical methods and research design.
  • Experience in public health nutrition or community nutrition programs.
