We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Research Engineer to support the hardware development and field deployment of a modular construction robot. You will be the crucial link between lab-based prototypes and real-world construction sites, ensuring our robotic systems are robust, reliable, and rigorously tested.
Key Responsibilities:
. Assist in the mechanical assembly, wiring, and hardware troubleshooting of mobile bases, manipulators, and customized end-effectors.
. Conduct sensor calibration (LiDAR, RGB-D cameras) and maintain the hardware health of the robot fleet.
. Support the execution of laboratory and on-site field trials, including logistical preparation and safety compliance.
. Collect, log, and analyze hardware performance and productivity measurement data during field tests.
. Design and fabricate mounting brackets and testing rigs using CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and 3D printing/machining.
. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
. Strong hands-on prototyping skills and experience building electro-mechanical systems.
. Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux, basic ROS/ROS2 commands, and hardware-level communication protocols (CAN, RS232).
. Willingness to conduct field experiments in dynamic, real-world construction environments.
. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
