RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will be responsible for conducting research on faster and efficient inference algorithm for large language models (LLMs). Successful candidate will be part of an active research team led by Assistant Prof. ZHOU Pan from School of Computing and Information Systems, Singapore Management University.
- Design efficient and effective inference algorithms like improved speculative decoding for LLMs.
- Implement the designed algorithms.
- Evaluate them on the representative AI models like LLaMA, Qwen, DeepSeek LLMs.
- Write papers.
- Give presentations if needed.
- Other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS- Minimum master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or closely related disciplines from an institution of higher learning.
- Minimum 1 years of relevant research experience in LLMs or system design and optimization or AI or machine learning or computer vision.
- Basic knowledge/Proficiency in programming software/languages such as python, and PyTorch will be positively considered/ is required.
- Top-tier conference or journal papers like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, TPAMI, JMLR are preferred but not necessary.
- Good analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.
- Applicants with research publications in LLMs or system design and optimization areas will be advantageous.
- Proven track record and professional experience in LLMs
- Demonstrated experience and know-how on 1) large AI models and their inference algorithms 2) system designand optimization like memory and computational controlling in AI systems.
- Technical skills in PyTorch program
- Applicants with research publications in NLP, LLM inference and optimization, AI and machine learning area will be advantageous
- Ability to break down complex problems and design effective solutions
- Innovating new approaches and thinking outside the box
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a small, agile academic research team is essential
- Self-motivated individual who can work independently and collaboratively with team members
