The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.
We are looking for a Research Associate working in the area of Geometric Modelling and Geometric Discretization. It contributes to the new research activity at the interface between geometry, dynamics, and mathematical physics leaded by Prof. Gay-Balmaz.
Key Responsibilities:
The Research Associate will realize the following activities under the guidance of Prof. Gay-Balmaz
Structure preserving discretization and learning
Numerical implementation of derived models
Interact with the members of the research group
Two or more papers to be submitted in international Journals
Report of the work done during the stay
Job Requirements:
Master in Mathematics
Solid knowledge of tools from Differential Geometry (Manifolds and Tensor Analysis, Lie Groups, Geometric Structures)
Solid knowledge of techniques from Structure Preserving Numerical Discretization of ODEs and PDEs
Solid knowledge of programming languages such as Matlab, Python, Fortran, FEniCS, Firedrake.
