Join Our Team at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Position Available: Research Associate in Applied Geometry

Join the laboratory of Dr Cyrus Mostajeran at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. We are seeking a Research Associate to contribute to the research agenda of the Applied Geometries Lab at NTU.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be responsible for

  • Obtaining rigorous mathematical results geometric optimization and applications to data science and machine learning

  • Designing, implementing, and testing algorithms

  • Engaging in scientific exchange with collaboration partners of the project

  • Preparing reports, scientific papers, and presentations

Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree in mathematics or a closely related subject

  • Knowledge of differential geometry including Riemannian geometry, Lie groups, and homogeneous spaces

  • Enthusiasm for applying advanced mathematical tools and techniques to applications including data science

  • Good communication skills

  • Experience in the use of programming languages and interest in the implementation of algorithms relevant to the project
