Job Description

We are seeking one (1) talented full time Research Assistant to join the Synthetic Biology Translational Research Programme (TRP) at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Synthetic Biology TRP seeks to repurpose biology for positive clinical impact, specifically by developing next generation small molecule deliverables to enhance the resilience of host- or environment-associated microbial communities.

The Research Assistant (RA) will work closely with the Principal Investigator and the research team to characterize and engineer environmental small molecules as drivers of microbial communities. Appointments will be initially made on a 1-year contract, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

The Research Assistant is expected to:

  1. Determine how environmental small molecules affect complex microbial communities in vitro and in vivo
  2. Assist in any other duties delegated by the PI and senior research staff.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  1. Hold a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science
  2. Possess strong hands-on experience in molecular biology, microbial cultivation, bioinformatics
  3. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a high level of scientific rigor and attention to detail.
