Job Description

Overview

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator (PI) and study team members as well as Research Director to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project Investigating the Role of Humoral Innate Immunity in MSC Exosome-Mediated Alleviation of Osteoarthritis: Targeting Complement Activation.

The RA will perform experiments related to cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, and immunology, and assist in general laboratory management.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Involve in production and characterisation of membrane-coated nanoparticles
  • Assist in the development of an in-vitro and in-vivo osteoarthritis (OA) models.
  • Involve in testing of macrophage cell membrane-coated nanoparticles in in-vitro and in-vivo animal models
  • Assist with general laboratory safety, housekeeping.
  • Assist with purchases required for the project.
  • Conduct literature review, qualitative/quantitative analysis when required
  • Assist PI in project paperwork, presentation and reporting.
  • Assist with any other related duties that are delegated by PI.

Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor or Master degree from a reputable university, preferably in Life Sciences or Biomedical Engineering;
  • Knowledge with experience in basic cell culture, biochemical, molecular, immunological, and histological techniques. These include but not limited to RT-PCR, flow cytometry, cell based-assays and immunofluorescence staining.
  • Knowledge and experience in biomarker research, with specific focus on biobanking for therapeutic applications.
  • Strong interest in laboratory-based research discovery.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Take initiatives to learn and troubleshoot for any problem(s) encountered.
  • Meticulous with positive work attitude, and able to work in a fast-paced research environment as a team member.
  • Well-organized in keeping a good record of research findings.
