Our client is a leading global bank and focuses on delivering corporate banking, cross border financing, trade finance and wealth management services for its clients, supporting investment flows and financial cooperation across borders. They are currently looking to hire a seasoned professional to support them in regulatory reporting and oversee financial/management reporting to maintain strong financial control discipline within the organization. This position reports to the Head of Finance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Reporting
- Manage the preparation, review, and submission of regulatory returns to MAS, ensuring compliance with MAS Notices, Guidelines, and applicable Banking Act requirements.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory reporting packages for Head Office.
- Act as the primary liaison with MAS for queries, inspections, surveys, and ad hoc information requests.
- Monitor capital adequacy and liquidity ratios in collaboration with Treasury and Risk teams.
- Review risk-weighted asset (RWA) calculations and ensure alignment between regulatory and financial data.
- Work closely with Risk, Treasury, Operations, and IT to maintain consistency and accuracy of data used in regulatory submissions.
2. Financial Reporting
- Oversee the preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Coordinate the annual statutory audit, including preparing supporting schedules and technical accounting documentation.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the trial balance, maintain general ledger integrity, and oversee financial statement disclosures.
- Review management reports, variance analyses, and financial presentations for board reporting.
- Provide financial impact assessments for new products, initiatives, and business developments.
3. Accounting Governance & Booking Oversight
- Review and assess complex accounting treatments, including financial instruments, hedge accounting, impairment assessments and intercompany transactions.
- Ensure accounting policies remain consistent with Head Office standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Strengthen month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliation governance and controls.
- Maintain and enhance the finance internal control framework, and develop or update finance SOPs and operational manuals.
- Lead initiatives to automate processes and implement system improvements to enhance reporting efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent is preferred.
- At least 8-10 years of relevant experience in banking finance.
- Strong hands-on experience in MAS regulatory reporting.
- In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks and prudential reporting.
- Solid knowledge of banking accounting standards and financial instruments
- Strong integrity and heightened risk awareness.
- Robust review and control mindset.
- Effective communication skills when engaging with senior stakeholders and regulators.
- Strong analytical capabilities and technical accounting expertise.
