Our client is an established global technology and engineering organisation specialising in advanced measurement technologies and precision engineering solutions. With an international presence and a strong commitment to engineering excellence, the organisation continues to develop sophisticated products and technologies for global markets.
We are seeking an experienced Regulatory & Quality Engineer to play a key role in managing international product regulatory compliance, certification activities and quality engineering initiatives.
This position offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering, regulatory affairs and product development, ensuring that innovative technologies meet applicable international safety, technical and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with R&D, Quality Engineering, regional technical teams, regulatory authorities and external testing laboratories to support product approvals across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. Beyond managing certification activities, the role will contribute to regulatory strategy, early-stage product development, technical risk assessment and continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
International Regulatory Compliance & Standards
- Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of international product safety regulations, technical standards and certification requirements across Europe, North America and key Asia-Pacific markets.
- Monitor, evaluate and interpret evolving regulatory requirements, including applicable EU directives, IEC standards, FCC regulations, telecommunications requirements and country-specific conformity assessment frameworks.
- Translate complex regulatory and technical requirements into actionable guidance for engineering, R&D and product development teams.
- Assess the potential impact of regulatory changes on existing products, new product designs and international market access.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with regulatory authorities, certification and notified bodies, industry associations and other relevant external stakeholders.
- Participate in industry working groups, technical committees and regulatory discussions to remain informed of emerging standards, regulatory developments and industry best practices.
- Provide technical recommendations to support regulatory compliance planning and long-term product certification strategies.
Product Certification & Regulatory Approvals
- Lead and coordinate end-to-end product certification and regulatory approval activities for new and existing products across multiple international markets.
- Determine applicable mandatory and voluntary regulatory requirements, product safety standards and conformity assessment procedures for different product categories and target markets.
- Develop and coordinate appropriate product certification strategies, testing plans, approval schedules and supporting technical documentation.
- Work closely with R&D, Quality Engineering, regional engineering teams and external accredited testing laboratories to facilitate regulatory testing, certification and product approvals.
- Integrate regulatory compliance requirements into early product development activities, including design reviews, engineering assessments, validation and verification processes.
- Coordinate relevant product compliance testing, which may include electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), radio frequency (RF), wireless communications and other applicable technical assessments.
- Review testing outcomes, identify regulatory gaps and coordinate necessary corrective actions with relevant engineering stakeholders.
- Support the resolution of technical non-conformities, certification challenges and regulatory approval issues to ensure timely product launches and continued market access.
Technical Documentation & Quality Engineering
- Prepare, review, maintain and update technical files, certification records, conformity assessment documentation, regulatory declarations and other compliance-related records.
- Ensure technical documentation remains accurate and aligned with applicable regulatory requirements, product specifications and certification conditions.
- Evaluate the regulatory implications of product modifications, engineering changes, hardware enhancements and software updates.
- Coordinate the necessary documentation updates, technical reassessments and recertification activities arising from product changes.
- Provide technical guidance on product compliance risks, regulatory interpretation and quality engineering considerations.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to investigate compliance-related technical issues, identify root causes and implement effective corrective or preventive measures.
- Recommend practical, commercially viable and cost-effective approaches to addressing regulatory and technical compliance challenges.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen regulatory documentation, product quality processes and compliance management practices.
Product Lifecycle Compliance & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Support regulatory compliance throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial design and development through product launch, modification and ongoing market support.
- Collaborate with international engineering and regional technical teams to align product certification strategies with country-specific regulatory requirements.
- Monitor changes in regulatory standards and coordinate necessary product assessments, technical updates and recertification activities.
- Act as a technical liaison between internal stakeholders, regulatory authorities, certification bodies and external testing laboratories.
- Prepare regulatory assessments, technical compliance reports, certification updates and presentations for management and relevant product stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to engineering teams on regulatory compliance requirements, certification processes and evolving international standards.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal regulatory compliance frameworks, quality engineering practices and product development processes.
- Work collaboratively across functions to balance regulatory obligations, engineering feasibility, product performance and commercial objectives.
