We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Specialist Clinic and Ambulatory Surgical Centre. The nurse will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals undergoing diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor surgical procedures across specialty areas such as ophthalmology and plastic surgery. The role involves pre-, intra-, and post-operative care, patient education, and collaboration with doctors and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure safe and effective clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including medical history, medications, and presenting concerns.
- Prepare patients for examinations, diagnostic tests, and clinical procedures.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to established protocols.
- Assist doctors during procedures and minor surgeries, including scrub and circulating nurse duties.
- Monitor and assess patients pre- and post-procedure, promptly reporting any changes.
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, suture removal, and other post-operative interventions as required.
- Conduct or assist with diagnostic tests within scope of practice and delegation.
Patient Education & Support
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, procedures, medications, pre- and post-operative care.
- Reinforce doctor's instructions to ensure patient understanding and adherence.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to patients throughout their treatment journey.
- Advise patients on treatment costs, insurance coverage, and available payment options where applicable.
Documentation & Coordination
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR or clinical management system.
- Coordinate follow-up appointments, referrals, and diagnostic services.
- Communicate effectively with doctors, technicians, and other team members.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Adhere to infection prevention and control standards.
- Follow nursing standards of practice, clinic policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.
Operational Support
- Support clinic workflow and patient flow to ensure smooth operations.
- Prepare treatment rooms, surgical instruments, and manage medical supplies.
- Perform additional duties as required to meet operational needs.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB).
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum 12 years of clinical experience; experience in ophthalmology, plastic surgery, ambulatory care, or perioperative nursing preferred.
- Knowledge of diagnostic, surgical, and cosmetic procedures.
- Strong clinical judgment and assessment skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, including late shifts and rotating schedules.
