Position Description As a Tesla Regional Technical Specialist, you'll work within the Service Technical Organization to drive Tesla's exceptional Service standards. This role is the key connection point between our regional Service Centers and APAC Service Engineering. Your responsibility will be leading accurate diagnosis of escalated cases across multiple service centers, keeping vehicles on road while improving service capabilities.
A strong technical background in diagnosing complex electromechanical systems with heavy software content is required. This Regional Technical Specialist must be passionate about diagnostics, must be a strong critical thinker with great fluency in understanding technical system-level architecture and issues. This role will require extensive regular travel at short notice supporting issues within the Service Region.
Responsibilities
Provide on-site diagnostic support for Service Locations within allocated region
Support Service technicians remotely with diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques via the Service Toolbox escalation path
Identify quality concerns, generating a continuous feedback loop of issues identified in the field
Collaborate with regional Field and Product Support Engineers in root cause analysis
Provide operational feedback for service procedures, knowledgebase improvements and diagnostic tooling/applications
Utilize reports and metrics to spot trends and areas for technical development within Service
Provide on-site coaching and mentoring of Lead and Master Technicians focusing on diagnostic principles and service procedures under the guidance of Tesla Academy
Provide frequent documentation of work for reporting purposes via a ticketing system
Regular travel required to support, monitor and report on new/trending/critical or region-specific concerns
Availability for occasional off-hours work and meetings
Requirements
Minimum 2 years experience as OEM Senior or Master Technician
Ability to travel interstate/Internationally at short notice as per business requirements
Experience with complex automotive/ electromechanical systems, preferably electric vehicles or high voltage DC systems such as DC storage or DC-DC converters
Skilled with common workplace and database software (MS Word, Excel, Visio, Access, etc).
Valid drivers license
Demonstrated experience in testing and diagnosis of all systems including HVAC, hydraulic brakes, suspension, electronic systems and modules
Demonstrated experience using diagnostic scan tools, following diagnostics and operating scopes
EV or Hybrid Experience a bonus
