Regional Legal Counsel (In-house)

Our client is a NYSE listed American designer, manufacturer and marketer of high-end tools and equipment for professional use in the transportation industry including the automotive, heavy duty, equipment, marine, aviation, and railroad industries.

Annual sales revenue exceeds US$4 billion and in Asia, they have sales offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, The Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

They are looking for a competent Regional Legal Counsel to be based in Singapore:

REGIONAL LEGAL COUNSEL (IN-HOUSE)

The Regional Legal Counsel will be based in our client's Singapore office, and will provide legal and compliance advice to their business sectors across the Asia-Pacific Region.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice, updates, and requirements on all business activities of their offices in the Asia Pacific Region, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
• Work closely with their global Corporate Legal Department for internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance, data privacy and licensing issues
• Provide legal support to business operations including IT, HR and Finance, either for standalone matters or in conjunction with primary role
• Manage the work of external legal counsels as needed
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the Management.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) with around 5 years relevant legal experience in a regional law firm or in-house legal team
• Excellent written and spoken English and Mandarin essential to communicate with Mandarin-speaking associates and to draft/review Chinese documentation and contracts
• The ability to work both independently and as part of an inter-disciplinary team
• Good stakeholder management skills
• Able to balance the roles of business partner and control function
• Willingness to travel within the Asia region
• Experience in US multinational HQ will be an added advantage.
