About the Legal Office

The EHL Group's Legal Office provides legal leadership and support across the Group's business segments and stakeholders worldwide, helping protect the Group's interests, manage legal risks and achieve its strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

The Legal Office is headed by the Director of Legal, based at EHL Campus Lausanne, Switzerland. Based at the EHL Singapore Campus, you will work closely with the Director of Legal and business stakeholders to support Singapore and wider APAC region.

Your mission

As Regional Legal Counsel, you will be a key legal partner to the business, with both a local and international scope across a broad range of legal matters. You will provide pragmatic legal advice, with particular focus on data protection, corporate and commercial contracts, while supporting compliance, managing legal and corporate risks, and contributing to strategic business initiatives and growth.

Your main responsibilities will include

• Responsible for the compliance of EHL's Singapore legal entities and activities with local laws in Singapore, in particular data protection laws and the relevant local laws and regulations applicable to EHL as a Private Education Institution (PEI) in Singapore
• Manage corporate matters related to the legal entities of EHL located in APAC in coordination with the respective managing directors and with external local consultants/counsels
• Manage contractual/business matters and general legal counselling to the teams and businesses of all EHL offices in APAC
• Ensure proper implementation of the Group legal policies and processes in APAC, while advising on possible adaptations to be made in the light of regional/local laws, including the implementation of the Group data protection policies and processes in coordination with the Legal Office's data protection specialist located in Lausanne, Switzerland
• Coordination with external lawyers of the APAC region where required
• Support the Director Legal Office in other strategic legal matters

Prerequisites and personality

• Complete law degree in Singapore law.
• Robust legal education in Singapore law, ideally with postgraduate qualifications and/or bar admission
• Excellent general legal skills.
• Strong command of Singapore data protection laws and regulations.
• Minimum 5 years of similar/relevant experience.
• Proven experience in contract drafting and negotiation in an international environment, especially across the APAC region.
• Strong understanding of commercial objectives.
• Pragmatic, risk-based and results-oriented approach.
• Ability to act as a trusted business partner.
• Effective communicator.
• Strong team collaboration skills.
• Autonomous and able to work independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Mandarin proficiency would be advantageous for collaboration with regional stakeholders and documentation relating to Greater China markets.
• Open to travel to Switzerland for an onboarding program with the Legal Office team at EHL Lausanne Campus.
