Role Overview
The Director, Marine Asia will drive the Cargo & Logistics strategy, with involvement in Hull, P&I, and growth across Asia.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Marine and Shipping leadership to execute strategy across 12 Asian countries.
- Manage and retain key Marine accounts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers, and industry stakeholders to drive new business and retention.
- Analyze client risk profiles, including vessel operations, cargo types, and trade routes, to design customized insurance solutions.
- Drive pipeline management and prospecting.
- Coordinate regional quotations and tenders, supporting placements.
- Partner with in-country teams to innovate broking strategies.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in insurance, business, finance, maritime studies, or related field.
- Deep knowledge of marine insurance products (cargo, hull, liability) and Asia market dynamics.
- Experience with large, complex commercial clients.
- Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and client management skills.
- Willingness to travel.
- Focus on large account pipeline development, collaborating with in-country teams and Marine Facultative Reinsurance for Singapore and London placements.
