Managerial Responsibilities

The Recruitment Lead is responsible for the end‑to‑end management of recruitment across the Firm. This role partners closely with Partners, Practice Groups, and Centralised Services to attract, assess, and appoint high‑calibre legal and non‑legal talent. The Recruitment Lead plays a key role in workforce planning, employer branding, and ensuring that recruitment processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with the Firm's strategic objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end recruitment for lawyers (trainees, associates, and lateral hires) and Centralised Services roles.
  • Partner with Partners, Practice Group Heads, and hiring managers to support workforce planning and develop effective hiring strategies.
  • Manage and continuously enhance recruitment processes, including sourcing, interviews, assessments, offers, and onboarding coordination.
  • Build and maintain robust talent pipelines through direct sourcing, referrals, recruitment agencies, and graduate recruitment channels.
  • Oversee recruitment events, campus engagement initiatives, and employer branding activities.
  • Ensure recruitment practices comply with applicable employment legislation, data protection requirements, and internal policies.
  • Track, analyse, and report recruitment metrics, market trends, and hiring outcomes to support informed decision‑making.
  • Manage relationships with external search firms and recruitment vendors to ensure quality, consistency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Coach, guide, and support junior recruitment team members, where applicable.

Training Contracts (Practice Training / Relevant Legal Training)

  • Report to the Recruitment Committee (RC), comprising four Partners from the Corporate and Disputes Practice Groups.
  • Surface and present applications to the RC for consideration.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual Training Contracts and Relevant Legal Training recruitment cycle, including any applicable moratoriums.

Internships (Legal and Polytechnic)

  • Report to the Recruitment Committee (RC), comprising four Partners from the Corporate and Disputes Practice Groups.
  • Surface applications to the RC during the internship recruitment cycle (December and January), as well as ad‑hoc applications.
  • Coordinate and administer four‑week structured legal internship programmes conducted between May and August.
  • Coordinate and administer ad‑hoc legal internship placements.
  • Coordinate student internship programmes with Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic for Information Systems and Corporate Services, respectively.

Recruitment Events

  • Organise and participate in local university career fairs, talks, and dialogues (including NUS and SMU).
  • Coordinate participation in overseas university career fairs (e.g. UKSLSS).
  • Coordinate the annual UK recruitment trip for the Recruitment Committee to engage UK‑based law students.
  • Organise and support internal events for trainees.
  • Manage ad‑hoc requests from external organisations and institutions to host law students (e.g. AUSLSS and overseas universities).

Requirements

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of end‑to‑end recruitment experience
  • Proven experience recruiting legal talent (trainees, associates, lateral hires) and non‑legal / corporate services roles.
  • Strong ability to partner credibly with Partners, Practice Group Heads, and senior stakeholders on workforce planning and hiring strategy.
  • Hands‑on experience managing graduate recruitment, training contracts, and structured internship programmes.
  • Sound knowledge of recruitment compliance, including employment legislation and data protection requirements.
  • Strong communication, judgement, and organisational skills, with the ability to operate confidently in a committee‑led governance environment.
