Job Description

About Us

Cana Consulting is a boutique executive search firm specialising in Legal & Governance recruitment across Asia-Pacific. We partner closely with in-house legal teams, financial institutions, funds, energy and infrastructure companies, and professional services firms to build high-quality, long-term teams.

We are relationship-driven, ethics-led, and focused on depth rather than volume. Our work spans senior in-house legal hires, private practice lateral searches, and governance-related roles including compliance, risk, internal audit, finance and strategy.

The Opportunity

We are looking to hire an experienced recruiter to join Cana Consulting in a senior, autonomous capacity. This role is suited for someone who has already built a desk or niche and is looking for a platform that offers ownership, flexibility, and long-term growth, rather than a high-pressure volume model.

The successful candidate may focus on:

  • Legal recruitment (Private Practice or In-house), and/or
  • Governance-related roles such as Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit, Finance, Strategy or Corporate Functions

The exact scope can be shaped around the individual's background, relationships, and strengths.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and grow a dedicated recruitment practice within Legal and/or Governance
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with:
  • Law firms, in-house legal teams, funds, corporates, and professional services firms
  • Senior-level candidates across Asia-Pacific
  • Lead end-to-end search mandates including:
  • Client advisory and role scoping
  • Market mapping and candidate strategy
  • Interview coordination, offer management, and closing
  • Act as a thought partner to clients, providing market insights, compensation guidance, and hiring strategies

Collaborate with the Founder on:

  • Key client relationships
  • Business development strategy
  • Practice expansion opportunities

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of recruitment experience, ideally within:
  • Legal recruitment (private practice or in-house), or
  • Governance / finance / risk / internal audit / strategy recruitment
  • Proven ability to own and run a desk or niche independently

Demonstrated track record of:

  • Client development and retention
  • Candidate relationship management
  • Closing mid- to senior-level searches
  • Commercially astute, with a long-term, relationship-driven mindset
  • High standards of professionalism, ethics, and discretion
  • Comfortable operating in a lean, boutique environment with autonomy and accountability
