Our client is a medical devices company headquartered in Singapore and is on the verge of getting their medical devices approved and manufactured. This is a role in the Research & Development team working on early stage innovation projects, product development projects and also on design for manufacturing stages.
R&D Staff Mechanical Design Engineer
Responsibilities
- Develop new products from initial concept through to production, ensuring mechanical engineering principles are applied effectively.
- Support released products with engineering activities focused on product development, quality improvement, reducing costs, and resolving manufacturing issues.
- Collaborate with engineers from various disciplines (simulation, electronics, mechanical) to meet performance, reliability, and cost expectations.
- Lead projects aimed at improving cost, quality, and productivity using tools and methodologies like Tolerance Stack, Process Capability (Cpk), and FMEA.
- Conduct technical design reviews and operate within project teams to design, develop, and verify new products, while complying with medical regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO, IEC).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering with 8 years of experience in medical devices and mechanical engineering.
- Proven experience in the entire product lifecycle, from concept to design, development, and manufacturing of medical devices.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical integration and standard manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, machining).
- Proficient in prototyping, tool design, 3D modeling using software like SolidWorks, and generating 2D drawings with GD&T.
- Capable of performing tolerance analysis and familiar with fluid dynamics and CFD analysis.
