R&D Engineer (Video or Audio Standardization Researcher)

Responsibilities:

1) Conduct research in cutting-edge AI technologies for audio/video quality and compression.

2) Build reproducible ML training/evaluation pipelines and run rigorous objective and perceptual assessments.

3) Represent Panasonic in standardization activities and industry forums network with peers to build consensus and identify collaboration opportunities.

4) Collaborate closely with cross functional teams (research, product, IP) and global labs build strong working relationships to align goals and timelines.

5) Analyze technology trends and recommend future research directions and roadmap updates.

Requirements:

1) Good Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Electronics/Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.

2) Strong foundations in signal processing and applied algorithm development for audio/image/video.

3) Practical experience building and evaluating neural network models for audio/image/video tasks (e.g., enhancement, restoration, compressionrelated modules).

4) Proficiency in C/C++ and Python programming languages with solid software engineering practices.

5) Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

6) Self-driven, collaborative, and outcome-oriented team player.

7) Comfortable with a hybrid work model and occasional international travel.

Company Profile

History

Panasonic R&D Center Singapore (PRDCSG), formerly known as Panasonic Singapore Laboratories Pte Ltd (PSL), started as an Audio Video Information Research Center (AVIRC) under Asia Matsushita Electric (S) Pte Ltd (AMS), currently known as Panasonic Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (PA) in 1990.

In 1996, PSL was separated from AMS and incorporated as an independent research company directly under the corporate R&D arm of Panasonic Corporation, Japan.

In 2012, as part of Panasonic's development strategy to streamline Panasonic's current operations in the Asia Pacific region, and also part of Panasonic's global strategy to accelerate group synergy, strengthen collective power and maximize customer value, PSL was amalgamated into PA and became a new business of PA, Panasonic R&D Center Singapore (PRDCSG). To date, PRDCSG has a headcount of approximately 100 and is a multicultural company of 11 different nationalities.
