A rapidly growing organisation in the skincare and personal care industry is establishing a new GMP-compliant facility. To support this expansion, we are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Senior R&D and Production Chemist to join as the founding technical member. This is an exciting opportunity to influence endtoend formulation, manufacturing, and quality standards in a brandnew environment.
Your New Role
In this hands-on position, you will oversee the full lifecycle of skincare products-from concept development in the lab, through pilot and full-scale manufacturing, all the way to commercial launch. You will play a critical role in setting up the production facility, ensuring regulatory compliance, and troubleshooting on the factory floor to ensure flawless execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop medical-grade skincare formulations (serums, creams, lotions) that meet commercial and regulatory standards.
- Reverse-engineer competitor products and create differentiated, high-performance formulations.
- Lead the establishment of ISO 22716 (GMP) systems, including SOP development, equipment validation, and hygiene protocols.
- Ensure compliance with relevant audits and regulatory requirements (e.g., HSA cosmetic notification).
- Participate directly in production operations-operating machinery, supervising manufacturing runs, and resolving scale-up issues.
- Maintain and operate production equipment such as highshear mixers and filling lines.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmacy, or related fields.
- 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in skincare/personal care formulation.
- Proven track record of taking formulations from lab concept to successful market launch.
- Experience setting up or operating within a GMP/ISO 22716 facility is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of raw materials, emulsification systems, rheology, and scale-up processes.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of both R&D and production tasks.
- A practical, solution-oriented mindset with the grit to work on the production floor when required.
