Job Summary
Lead project cost estimation and post contract for structural steel / metal works fabrication and erection, ensuring accurate budgeting, risk mitigation, and quality compliance to support successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Review structural drawings, specifications, and designs to determine materials, steel grades, connections, and fabrication methods for accurate project analysis
- Measure steel sections, plates, bolts, and fittings including wastage allowances to perform precise quantity take-offs
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and project budgets covering fabrication, transport, erection, labor, and overheads
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes, negotiate rates, manage contract variations, and ensure compliance with project scope during tendering and contract management
- Track actual costs against estimates, manage progress claims, approve payments, and identify opportunities for cost savings to control project expenses
- Collaborate with QA/QC teams to verify materials and fabrication meet specifications, incorporating rework or non-conformance costs into budgets
- Identify financial, material, and schedule risks and recommend mitigation strategies to manage project changes effectively
- Maintain accurate records and prepare cost reports, forecasts, and final accounts to support management decision-making
