Quantity Surveyor

A well-established Singapore-based M&E engineering contractor specialising in ACMV, mechanical and electrical engineering solutions for major commercial, industrial, institutional and infrastructure projects, offering strong project exposure and long-term career stability.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Contract / Tendering

• Prepare cost estimates, quantity take-offs, BOQ and tender pricing for electrical works.
• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and scope of works to identify commercial and technical requirements.
• Prepare and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Source competitive quotations and conduct price comparisons to support tender submissions.
• Identify cost risks, exclusions, discrepancies and potential variations during tender stage.
• Assist in preparing tender submissions, budgets and cost plans.
• Liaise with consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams to clarify tender requirements.

Post-Contract / Project QS

• Manage the commercial aspects of electrical projects from commencement through completion.
• Prepare and submit progress claims, payment applications and supporting documentation.
• Monitor project costs, commitments and expenditure against the approved budget.
• Evaluate and negotiate variation orders, claims and additional works with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
• Prepare and evaluate subcontractor progress claims and payments.
• Review and certify subcontractor measurements, valuations and payment claims.
• Maintain proper records of contractual correspondence, variations, claims and commercial documentation.
• Monitor project financial performance and highlight potential cost overruns or commercial risks.
• Assist Project Managers in contractual and commercial matters.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and management reports.
• Manage the final account with clients and subcontractors, including measurement, reconciliation and settlement of outstanding claims.

Requirements

• Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant Quantity Surveying experience, preferably within Electrical construction industry.
• Experience handling both pre-contract and post-contract QS functions.
• Strong knowledge of electrical construction works, including familiarity with electrical systems, installations, materials and subcontractor works.
• Experience in tender preparation, BOQ, cost estimation, measurement, progress claims, variation orders and final accounts.
• Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial practices.
• Able to work independently while coordinating closely with project, engineering and commercial teams.
