Job Summary
As a Quantity Surveyor at Element, you will lead cost management activities across diverse projects, driving value optimization while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. You will collaborate with clients and construction professionals to deliver accurate cost planning, risk management, and contractual advice that supports successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities
Cost Planning and Management
- Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, for accurate project costing.
- Implement cost control, risk management, and value management to ensure project efficiency.
- Advise on procurement strategies to support project objectives and budget control.
- Identify and manage commercial risks that may affect project costs.
- Prepare and analyze tender pricing to support competitive project bids.
- Allocate work packages to subcontractors for efficient resource use.
- Provide advice on contractual claims and project matters.
- Monitor project progress and prepare reports for stakeholders.
- Assess completed work and arrange payments to contractors.
Client and Stakeholder Management
- Lead meetings with clients and their representatives to communicate cost-related updates and decisions
- Liaise effectively with clients, main contractors, subcontractors, and site managers to coordinate project activities
- Prepare and present clear, insightful cost reports to clients and internal teams to inform decision-making
Other Duties
- Monitor contract variations impacting costs and generate profitability reports to support financial oversight
- Negotiate contract terms and variations with clients and contractors where applicable to safeguard project interests
Required competencies and certifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying/ Building & Construction Management, or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in quantity surveying within civil projects
- Ability to manage tight deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail
- Knowledge of civil engineering projects and related cost management practices
