The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of cost planning, estimation, and commercial control of construction projects. This role ensures projects are delivered within approved budgets through effective cost management, contract administration, tender evaluation, and financial reporting. The Quantity Surveyor works closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to provide accurate cost advice, mitigate financial risks, and support successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
Prepare project cost estimates, budgets, and detailed costing reports throughout the project life cycle.
Source, evaluate, and analyze quotations conduct price comparisons and prepare comprehensive costing summaries.
Prepare and manage tender documentation, contracts, and related contractual documents.
Conduct tender evaluations, tender analysis, and assist in the agreement of final contract sums.
Collaborate closely with the project team on variation orders, progress claims, cost control, and value engineering.
Monitor and control project costs, ensuring adherence to approved budgets and cost limits.
Assess contractors and subcontractors claims, provide recommendations, and advise on contractual matters and disputes.
Liaise effectively with main contractors, subcontractors, clients, consultants, and suppliers on all cost-related issues.
Manage and maintain proper documentation, records, and reporting for all quantity surveying activities.
Prepare and submit accurate QS reports, including cost reports, financial statements, and project forecasts.
Conduct risk assessments, cost analysis, and financial evaluations to identify and mitigate potential project risks.
Negotiate contracts, variations, and final accounts to achieve value for money and commercial objectives.
Perform cost analysis for construction works and post-contract cost management.
Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in quantity surveying or construction cost management.
Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) experience with QS or cost management software is an advantage.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
Strong networking skills and a proactive, results-driven mindset.
