Main Roles & Responsibilities of a QS

1. Cost Estimation - Prepare project cost estimates and budgets.

2. Quantity Take-Off - Calculate quantities of materials required, such as concrete, steel, painting, piping and other construction works.

3. BOQ Preparation - Prepare the Bill of Quantities (BOQ).

4. Quotation Preparation - Prepare quotations and cost breakdowns for clients.

5. Tender Management - Review tender documents and prepare tender submissions.

6. Progress Claims - Prepare monthly progress claims and payment applications.

7. Variation Orders (VO) - Calculate additional costs for extra work or changes in project scope.

8. Cost Control - Monitor project expenditure and ensure the project stays within budget.

9. Subcontractor Management - Evaluate subcontractor quotations and payments.

10. Final Account - Prepare the final project cost statement and settle accounts with clients.
