Job Summary:
Responsible for planning and managing measurement activities for new projects, including measurement planning, tooling and inspection fixture development, and measurement programming. Ensure all measurement processes comply with drawing specifications and quality standards.
The role involves coordinating with internal teams, mold manufacturers, and customers to validate measurement methods and results, supporting product development and production quality. The Quality Engineer will also oversee measurement system analysis (MSA), maintain measurement documentation, and ensure proper use, calibration, and maintenance of measuring instruments to achieve accurate and reliable inspection outcomes.
Job Duty and Responsibility:
- Develop a measurement plan based on drawing requirements: select appropriate measuring instruments such as coordinate measuring machines (CMM), articulated arms, projectors, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.
- Determine whether inspection fixtures or auxiliary measuring tools are required, and define measurement personnel and cycle.
- Benchmark measurement plans and results with mold manufacturers and customers.
- Prepare coordinate measurement programming according to drawing requirements and guide technicians/inspectors in performing measurement procedures correctly.
- Develop measurement plans, submit reports to internal and external customers in a timely manner, and explain results when required.
- Responsible for the organization and archiving of measurement reports.
- Prepare operating instructions for measuring instruments and auxiliary tools.
- Train and guide newly hired measurement technicians/inspectors.
- Participate in the development of gauges and tooling, and provide suggestions on design and maintenance.
- Conduct regular inspection, maintenance and servicing of measuring instruments.
- Participate in acceptance and annual review of measuring and testing tools.
- Complete other tasks as assigned.
Entry Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Materials, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Proficient in GD&T knowledge
- Proficient in 3D software such as Pro-E, SolidWorks, Catia or NX
- Familiar with MSA and measurement management knowledge
- Strong logical thinking, communication and coordination skills, with ability to work in a team environment
Working Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Candidates with experience in automotive production quality management, first-tier suppliers, or automotive fasteners will have an advantage
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to travel overseas for meetings or training when required
